Defying a police ban, over two thousand Muslims, led by Joe Adade Boateng of the terror-tied Muslim Interaktiv group, gathered in Hamburg advocating for an Islamic caliphate and demanding media compliance with Sharia.
In Hamburg, Germany, over 2,000 Islamic supremacists gathered once more on Saturday afternoon, advocating for a caliphate – essentially a theocratic system devoid of freedoms, laws, and order. The police estimated the crowd to be around 2,300 people. Unlike their previous demonstration two weeks ago, this time, there were no banners or terrorist flags displaying Islamic symbols or direct calls for a caliphate. Instead, many participants held signs saying “Censored” and “Banned” in response to the stricter regulations imposed by the city and the police for this rally.
In response to alarming scenes from a demonstration at the end of April, where 1,250 demonstrators, segregated by gender, near the main train station called for a regressive theocracy, the police took action. They prohibited the jihadists from marching into the city center as initially planned for Saturday. Any demand for a caliphate on German soil was strictly forbidden, along with the following stipulations: no calls for violence, acknowledgment of Israel’s right to exist, and refraining from any mention of a caliphate in “word, writing, or images.”

A peculiar detail emerged: due to the prohibition on visible gender separation, which was present in the first demonstration, women were conspicuously absent among the demonstrators this time. Instead, they assembled in groups on the sidelines, most of them veiled, some displaying Palestine flags. It is worth noting that the concept of men and women being together is unthinkable for these particular jihadists.
In a video from the German media outlet NIUS, a troubling scene unfolds at the demonstration. Zara Riffler, a reporter for NIUS, attempts to engage participants in the pro-Caliphate demonstration with straightforward questions, only to be met with jihadis ignoring her and refusing to engage with her. The camera captures the men, many of whom are instructed by other Muslims to ignore her. They clearly demonstrate a reluctance to include women in their sharia-adherent demonstration.
The organizers intentionally barred Riffler from accessing the crowd, prompting police intervention to allow her entry. The Muslims’ reasoning? Even within the confines of gender segregation, they saw no place for a female journalist among men. This video serves as a stark reminder of women’s lowly status in Islam.
Nearby, Muslims holding Palestine flags faced approximately 150 counter-demonstrators, some of whom waved Israel flags, with one woman wearing a placard around her neck proclaiming “Sharia is dictatorship.”
The demonstration was organized by “Muslim Interaktiv,” identified as the successor organization to “Hizb ut-Tahrir,” which was banned in 2003 and is classified as “certainly extremist” by the Hamburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution. One of their leaders, 25-year-old Joe Adade Boateng, was recently barred by the city of Hamburg from teaching due to his troubling Islamic activism.
The young Porsche-driving leader delivered a speech at the rally advocating for a caliphate despite the ban, for which Boateng will likely face consequences. Despite criticism from local CDU members and others, the Hamburg Interior Authority stated that a ban on the demonstration was legally unenforceable.
