Recent developments have necessitated an update on this topic. Many otherwise well meaning Christian leaders are being deceived into joining hands with Muslims around the common themes of "Love of God" and "Love of neighbor." Among the most famous is Rick Warren, senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Irvine, California. His Muslim outreach program is founded upon Sura 3:64 and has wording taken almost verbatim from the Common Word document.

But recently a more onerous situation has arisen. On November 14, 2014, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. opened its doors and for the first time hosted Friday Jummah prayers for Muslims. This is groundbreaking. And this is inconceivable!

And this event is of deep concern for a number of reasons.

First, although the organizer of the event, the Rev. Cannon Gina Campbell does not cite specifically any reference to the Common Word, her stated reason for organizing this event fit with the stated goals of Common Word. She said, “Different connections come out of being in prayer—beyond the political or academic.”

Second, the list of organizers include organizations demonstrated to be branches of the Muslim Brotherhood who were identified by the FBI as co-conspirators in the nation's largest terrorism funding trial. In documents presented during the trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, an Islamic charity, the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) were all linked by irrefuteable evidence to the radical Muslim Brotherhood.
